How to set up the 'Follow' button on LinkedIn

Earlier today, a conversation on Open Source Pledge Slack came up with Chad Whitacre around LinkedIn visibility/connection settings, and making it possible to "Follow" someone, without connecting.

I set this up a couple of years ago with LinkedIn's "Creator Mode", and have appreciated that it allows folks to follow me, without me needing to have another "connection", especially if I don't know people.

(Aside: I've been somewhat lax with how I connect to folks on LinkedIn, and probably need to try and reduce my connections to folks I do know...)

However, when I went to share this, we spotted that Creator Mode is going away, so is unfortunately no longer a thing.

With that in mind, I thought it'd be worth me writing it up as a form of blogumentation, so I could refer folks back to in the future, as it didn't seem to be how I'd originally thought.

So how do you go about and allow folks to follow you on LinkedIn?

There's a setting described in these docs that allows you to allow folks who can follow you - what was missing was that Chad's follow settings was set to Your connections, not Everyone on LinkedIn.
